Police Rangers

Police Rangers is an adventure based, youth development activity, open to young people of high school age.  The program is designed to increase a young person's self confidence, leadership ability, team building skills and self esteem.

Out of School Care

We provide Out of School and Vacation Care Programs for members of our community who have been referred to us for assistance.

Women's Self Defence - Mothers & Daughters

A local Martial Arts Instructor teaches participants self defence techniques from the Jurate - Self Defence program over a period of six weeks. During the course the women also receive advice from a female police officer as to their rights and responsibilities in different potential self-defence situations.

Specialised programs

Juvenile Justice

Our juvenile justice program aims to engage young people that have been before the Juvenile Justice Team for offences and or behaviour in the community.

Anger Management

The goal of this program is to empower young people to look at their response to certain situations that lead them into trouble, whether at school, in the street or at home. The program is conducted either one on one or in small groups of no more the five and is designed for the person to learn to identify and manage their response to pontially destructive or dangerous situations.

Learn to Drive - Obtaining Learners Permit

Keys for Life is designed for young people aged 15 – 16 years (pre-drivers or novice drivers) entering the licensing system and is facilitated by a trained police officer.  The main aim of the program is to develop positive road user attitudes in young people. One of the program incentives is that students can start the Learner’s Permit application process and redeem a Keys for Life school certificate for their Learner’s Permit. They achieve this by sitting the legitimate Learner’s Permit Theory Test at PCYC rather than at a licensing centre.

Strike II – Act-Belong-Commit Youth Drop in Service

Strike II Act-Belong-Commit Youth Drop in operates every Friday night and offers young people interactive activities such as basketball, badminton, indoor soccer and skateboarding. In addition participants are provided with transport home from the centre. The aim is to provide young people with positive, meaningful and inexpensive recreational activities, in order to reduce perceived 'boredom', which can lead to vandalism and antisocial behaviour in the community. The Strike II is proudly sponsored by Healthway promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message.
