Strike II – Act-Belong-Commit Youth Drop-in Service - Albany PCYC
Strike II – Act-Belong-Commit Youth Drop-in Service operates every Friday night at Albany PCYC, as well as Thursday nights during the school holidays, and offers young people interactive activities such as basketball, badminton, indoor soccer and skateboarding. In addition the program enables young people to access advice and assistance from youth workers, allowing them to address personal issues that they may be experiencing in their life. The aim is to provide young people with positive, meaningful and inexpensive recreational activities, in order to reduce perceived 'boredom', which can lead to vandalism and antisocial behaviour in the community. Participants are driven home by PCYC staff at the end of the evening, to avoid the possibility of loitering and anti-social behaviour by the young people once they leave the centre.
Additionally once a term there is a Youth v COPS activities nights that allows both parties to engage in friendly competition in sports such as basketball, indoor soccer and air rifles.
Participation in the Strike II contributes to the development of good mental health and is proudly sponsored by Healthway promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message and the Department of Sport & Recreation. Albany PCYC would like to thank both the City of Albany and Healthway for their ongoing support and commitment to this program.
