Collie PCYC has officially reopened their Safe Space Teenage Hangout Room after renovations made possible thanks to the help of their amazing community.
Thank you to the agencies and youth involved, with special thanks to Bendigo Bank who covered the costs for sheeting the room, ceilings, electrical work, painting, floor coverings and furnishings.
The new hangout room now features a new pool table and an Xbox console with games, thanks to Mick Murray MLA and the South West Development Commission.
Collie OIC Senior Sergeant Soutar also provided an amazing sound system. “The sound system has been an incredible addition and has completely changed the whole vibe of the Safe Sanctuary program”.
Even the art work was created by local youth as part of a partnership with Collie Emergence.
The response to the new room has been fantastic, with local youth already making plans to spend their next school holidays there, this is exactly the kind of response Collie PCYC was after.
“The youth LOVE this new room and everything it now contains to keep them engaged”.
Another huge thank you to everyone involved in the upgrades towards the Safe Space Teenage Hangout Room at Collie PCYC.
If you would like to find out more about the Hangout Room, including how to provide in-kind or financial support, please contact Collie PCYC on (08) 9734 5767 or email colliepcyc@wapcyc.com.au.
