Roebourne PCYC has been selected as one of 14 groups to receive funding from Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Youth Engagement Scheme (YES) designed to help strengthen local communities by engaging disconnected youth.
Roebourne PCYC will receive a fantastic $30,000 to go towards a Sports Activity Co-ordinator to help engage at-risk youth in sport and recreation activities following an identified need for support to help deliver these activities in the community.
Samantha Cornthwaite, Roebourne PCYC centre manager said the Scheme will have a significant impact in helping to strengthen the operations at Roebourne PCYC and its ability to deliver quality sport and recreation programs designed to engage the youth and wider community of Roebourne.
“Sport plays a powerful role in the engagement of young people in the community of Roebourne and can assist in healthy lifestyles and the building skills of young people”.
