The City of Fremantle held their official NAIDOC opening ceremony on Sunday 8th July at Fremantle PCYC celebrating the important roles women play with the theme ‘Because of her, we can!’.
The opening event featured a special Welcome to County by Marie Taylor and performance of Kaarla Kaatijin by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company.
Other highlights on the day included basket weaving with Sharon Egan, Live music from Natasha Elridge Band, bush tucker barbeque by Cultural Connections, Noongar live theatre and dance, damper making and community mural painting sessions .
With over 250 attendees on the day, Fremantle PCYC would like to thank everyone who came along and to celebrate the official NAIDOC Week Opening Day at the centre, with a special shout out to Freedom City Church who provided all the coffee on the day.
