The 2018 WA PCYC States Air Rifle Championship was held in early September at Rockingham PCYC. The Championship saw a total of 110 shooters compete over the two-day event, with Novice and Adults competing on Saturday and Juniors and Seniors competing on the Sunday.
In total, eight WA PCYC centres attended the championships including Albany, Collie, Gosnells, Harvey, Kalgoorlie, Quairading, Rockingham and Fremantle. The overall winning club of the championship was Kalgoorlie PCYC with Gosnells PCYC coming in as runner up.
Kalgoorlie PCYC senior shooter Nicholas Shaw took out the ‘Champion of Club Champion’ event with a score of 93 from a possible 100 – with high overall scores seeing very little difference between champion shooters.
Air rifles continues to remain a popular sport at PCYC centres across WA. The sport allows participants to learn skills such as discipline and focus, and encourages individual development and promotes positive well-being in a team environment.
