Charmaine Walley has been appointed to the role to assist in advising the WA PCYC Board on Aboriginal matters.
Charmaine is an experienced Liaison Officer with a demonstrated history of working in government and not-for-profit sectors. She has worked extensively as an Aboriginal Liaison Officer for the past five and a half years providing state-wide case management of youth who are in care, transitioning out of care or have left the care of the Department of Child Protection. She has also previously worked for the Department of Corrective Services, implementing early intervention and diversionary community-based programs which support and divert young people beginning to engage in anti-social behaviour.
Charmaine sits on the Board of Directors for the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC).
As the Aboriginal Advisor, Charmaine will assist the Board and management with guidance and advice on Aboriginal matters including cultural understanding, stakeholder engagement, plus staff and volunteer training.
Charmaine will also provide guidance on program development and service delivery that are of particular relevance to Aboriginal people, and provide assistance in representations to governments and other organisations.
