The Roebourne PCYC under 12 basketball team has won the grand final in Karratha. The team is coached and mentored by PCYC Sports Coordinator Sho-ella Smith, who every weekend organises transport and clean uniforms, along with providing mentorship and motivation for the team.
The employment of two PCYC Sports Coordinators in Roebourne is funded by Lotterywest and the The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Youth Engagement Scheme, which supports programs that target disengaged youth and assist them to connect with their communities through a range of sport and active recreation activities.
The two year program provides support to youth and youth-as risk by providing positive social, sporting and well-being activities in the West Pilbara.
