PCYC Gymnasts go to Regionals

Published: August 20, 2019 12:00am

Gold medals and coloured ribbons were out in force earlier this month for PCYC gymnasts from our Bunbury, Collie, Harvey, Kalgoorlie and Albany Centres.

More than 150 competitors aged five to 21 took part in the South West Regional Gymnastics competition hosted by Albany PCYC. Girls events included bars, beam floor and vault, whilst the boy’s events included floor, pommel, p-bars, high bars, rings and vaults.

For the month leading up to the competition, the gymnasts trained for more than five hours a week to perfect routines and fine-tune their skills.

Gymnasts from all five clubs performed exceptionally well over the weekend recording some outstanding results. Coaches and representatives commended the participants who not only placed, but represented PCYC at a very high level.

Results from the regional competition will be collated along with other competition outcomes to determine which gymnasts will go on to compete in the state finals at Fremantle later this year.

At PCYC, our Centres have a ‘gym for all’ attitude and encourage boys and girls of all ages and abilities to enjoy gymnastics in a safe and enjoyable environment.
