When the team at Gosnells PCYC heard about a local girl, who lives with disability, having her custom-made bike stolen, they were determined to help out.
The young people participating in Gosnells PCYC’s Full Throttle bike rebuilding program immediately swung into action, restoring a trike to replace the stolen one.
Full Throttle is a diversionary program in which young people are taught about bike maintenance and restoration. Once the bike is restored to a roadworthy condition, it is then donated to charitable organisations or families in need. The ethos behind this is to teach young people the value and importance of volunteering and giving back to the community.
Whilst our team were busy restoring a trike, a local bike shop also came to the rescue and donated a new bike. The young girl then asked if Gosnells PCYC would donate their restored trike to her class at Dianella College Education Support Unit so that everyone could enjoy it. We were more than happy to do so!
