Published: September 12, 2019 12:00am

The Police Rangers ‘Ranger Rally’ kicked off this month in the South-West, with ten Police Rangers from the Bunbury and Collie PCYC spending an action-packed weekend at the Manjedal Activity Centre.

The annual event sees Police Ranger groups from around the state come together to take part in team games and adventures in a fun camp environment.

Police Rangers is an adventure-based, youth development activity, funded by Cadets WA and is open to all young people of high school age – not just those interested in becoming a Police Officer. The program is based on the WA Police Force ranking system. Promotion is achieved when Police Rangers complete set tasks - providing participants with a great sense of achievement.

Police Rangers take part in bushcraft, survival procedures, abseiling, climbing, exploring, orienteering, drill techniques, archery, bushwalking, camping as well as learning first aid and other emergency skills.

The Ranger Rally activities included an ‘amazing race’ style event, underground caving and a quiz competition. It was an amazing opportunity for all the Rangers to meet members of other units, build self-esteem and most importantly, make new friends.

The Police Rangers Program is delivered at nine PCYC locations across WA.
