Creating confidence in our young girls

Published: October 15, 2019 12:00am

Young girls who attend our safeSISTERS program at Fremantle PCYC, hosted a fashion parade for guests from the Western Australia Police Force, the City of Fremantle, Thuroona Services and PCYC staff.

The safeSISTERS program, funded by the City of Fremantle, provides girls aged 12 - 17 years with a safe place to go. Somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and take part in fun activities.

The girls planned the fashion parade for weeks and demonstrated so many skills that they’d learnt from being involved in the program – from organisational skills to presenting, cooking – not to mention invaluable feelings of self-worth, confidence and positive views on body image.

Fremantle PCYC Youth Worker Fiona said, “It’s so rewarding to see such an improvement in the girls behaviour and attitudes since starting the Program.”

We can’t wait to see what’s next for these girls!
