Skate park nights, pool parties and discos have drawn in over 650 attendances from young people in the first two months of opening.
Julie Gorman, Executive Manager, Centres, Camp & Outreach said “There aren’t many places in WA that need engaging activity options for young people more than Kununurra. It’s early days for our Kununurra Centre but we’re proud to have started with a bang and be making a difference in this remote community.”
As well as regular activities, the PCYC ‘Fun Truck’ also travels 100kms to Wyndham every Wednesday night to give children and young people the chance to take part in youth development programs and recreational activities such as basketball, soccer and cricket.
Speaking recently to ABC Kimberley, WA PCYC CEO, David van Ooran, said, “We are delighted with how popular our activities have been and grateful for the support from the WA Police Force and Shire of Wyndham/East Kimberley which has been, and will continue to be, fundamental to our success in the area.”
