The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (Inc.) (WA PCYC) are urgently looking for a dedicated and passionate Cook to take up the casual role for our Mornington Adventure Camp!
Who We Are:
Established in 1941, WA PCYC has seven metropolitan centres and twelve regional centres and a camp, all engaging and developing young people through a balance of intervention, diversion and recreational programs with our key partner, the WA Police Force, and other partners and non-government organisations. In addition, there are more than 20 PCYC Blue Light centres across the state. The organisation also operates fee for service mobile and outreach services. There are approximately 450,000 attendances recorded at PCYC and Blue Light activities and programs each year.
The primary responsibility of the cook/kitchen hand is to ensure all catered meals for Mornington Adventure Camp functions are planned, prepared and executed in line with the needs of their customers. This position will be required to liaise with management to determine the needs of scheduled meals, ensure sufficient kitchen supplies are available, and maintain cleanliness of the food preparation area. This position may be required to coordinate other staff and will supervise the kitchen in line with strict food hygiene policies. The preparation of food for persons with dietary needs or allergies may be required.
Roles and responsibilities:
Preparation, cooking and catering services for Mornington Adventure Camp customers
Ensure food is stored in line with food safety requirements
Supervise and direct kitchen staff as required
Works in safe manner and in compliance with approved, safe work practices
Maintain food preparation and dining areas in clean, hygienic and presentable condition
Experience in food preparation and cooking
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary Occupational Health & Safety and food hygiene practices
Demonstrated self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously, self-organise and prioritise tasks to achieve results
Good customer service skills
Excellent time management and reliability
Current/ willing to obtain a Working With Children’s Check Card
Current/ willing to obtain a Police Clearance
