The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (Inc.) (WA PCYC) is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to take up the exciting and challenging Youth Worker role at WA PCYC Exmouth.

Who We Are: 

Established in 1941, WA PCYC has seven metropolitan centres and twelve regional centres and a camp, all engaging and developing young people through a balance of intervention, diversion and recreational programs with our key partner, the WA Police Force, and other partners and non-government organisations. In addition, there are more than 20 PCYC Blue Light centres across the state. The organisation also operates fee for service mobile and outreach services. There are approximately 450,000 attendances recorded at PCYC and Blue Light activities and programs each year.

Position Profile:

Exmouth PCYC has an exciting opportunity available for a Youth Worker who is enthusiastic and passionate about their role and working with youth. This position is designed to provide a safe place for youth to be and to provide them with help and support to overcome some of the challenges they face in their lives. The primary purpose of this position will be to implement a Leadership project with the youth of Exmouth PCYC.

As a Youth Worker, you will be required to assist at risk youth through engaging with and providing assertive and intensive support to the youth who may have mental health illnesses or issues. This position will require you to display a capacity to engage with and empower all youth.

We are looking for a Youth Worker who will:
  • Plan and assist with the Exmouth PCYC Safe Space Program and the Santos leadership program
  • Encourage and facilitate the engagement of participants on our programs and accessing them to other available community services
  • Build and establish a rapport with our participants and provide appropriate referral when needed
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of youth issues particularly as they relate to employment, education and training health income support, legal issues, youth subcultures and street behaviour
 Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with and engaging with youth.
  • Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Services and/or extensive work related experience
  • Ability to develop and facilitate social, recreation activity programs which proactively ‘engage’ young people
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A valid C Class Manual driving license (a LR license would be a definite advantage).
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate (a willingness to obtain)
  • Hold or willing to obtain Working with Children’s Check and National Police Clearance
