The Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centres (Inc.) (WA PCYC) is looking for a dedicated and passionate professional to take up the exciting and challenging casual role of Out of School Care Bus Driver at WA PCYC Kensington PCYC.

WA PCYC is an incredible organisation that changes the lives of underprivileged children and young people at risk in Western Australia.
We currently operate in 16 locations, with 10 regional and six metropolitan centres and numerous, Blue Light Youth Activities and Police Ranger Units across the state. Our organisation is unique through its partnership with the WA Police, and mission simple – to help all children and young people achieve their potential.

Position Profile:

The Bus Driver is responsible for providing a high quality and safe transportation service to the PCYC clients, staff and stakeholders. As a Bus Driver you will support the delivery of PCYC Out of School Care program by providing the safe and comfortable transportation of senior and Junior PCYC clients and staff to and from the Out of School Care. The Bus Driver will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the Bus and ensuring it’s in a serviceable condition, reporting any concerns regarding the safety and condition of the Bus to the Out of School Care Coordinator to organise any maintenance and repairs required through the Centre Manager. This position may cover multiple sites and the Bus Driver may also be required to perform other duties at the discretion of the Centre Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Transport clients to locations safely and on time
  • Advises clients of safety rules and procedures on the bus
  • Ensures bus is clean and in a serviceable condition
  • Develops bus routes and transports clients in liaison with the Out of School Care Coordinator
  • Supports child/staff ratios by supervising children prior to the end of shift, if required
  • Adheres to all road legislation whilst operating the Bus and operates the Bus in a safe, legal and professional manner
  • Completes and submits Motor Vehicle Log Sheets to the Out of School Care Coordinator and/ or Centre Manager for processing
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff, organisation and community representatives

To be successful in this role you will require:
  • Available to work shifts from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Minimum Light Rigid (LR) Driver’s License
  • Hold (or willing to obtain) a Working With Children Check
  • Hold (or willing to obtain) a current National Police Clearance
  • Experience working within a Childcare Centre (desirable)
  • Strong time management skills
