Broome PCYC hosts a wide range of recreational activities.
safeSPACE, funded by the WA Police Force, provides young people aged 11 – 17 years, with a safe place to participate in recreational activities and educational workshops that focus on personal development and life skills. Sessions are delivered by youth workers, with Mondays (girls night) 5:00 – 9:00pm and Basketball and Community Games Night on Fridays 7:00- 11:00pm. Participants are also provided with a meal and transport home, which aims to decrease offending and antisocial behaviours.
The Goals 4 Life Leadership program offers young people and young people at risk the opportunity to complete a Certificate I in Leadership (52773WA). The program is designed to achieve a behavioural change in participants and to create opportunities for participants to be able to seek employment or work experience. Drive to the Future, an Australian Government initiative to deliver safer communities through local crime prevention strategies, provides young people and young people at risk, the opportunity to gain their learners permit and obtain a drivers licence. The program aims to help young people increase their self-esteem, sense of responsibility, employ-ability, mental health and well-being and is delivered in partnership with WA Police Force and local Aboriginal Organisations.
