Community Grant for new Mural at Rockingham PCYC

Published: April 27, 2018 12:00am
Youth from Rockingham Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC) have been busy painting up a storm with renowned urban artist Jerome Davenport. The mural has been made possible with the support of a Centenary Grant of $10,000 from Commonwealth Bank Rockingham Branch. Five youth from Rockingham PCYC came together during the school holidays to start the project, and spent a week painting the mural, while learning spray painting skills and techniques. Centre Manger, Justin Sambell commented that the mural has helped brighten up the centre and was a great opportunity for local youth to engage in a community focused project. “What an amazing improvement and what an amazing opportunity for five young kids to be involved in such an exciting project,” he said. “We went with the marine theme to match both the local area, including the fantastic seal mural also within the community. Thanks once again to Jerome Davenport and the Commonwealth Bank Rockingham Branch employees for allowing this to happen’. He concluded. “We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations such as Rockingham PCYC and the important work they do for the local community.” Commonwealth Bank Rockingham Branch Manager Victoria Pickles added.
