All Aboard! Collie PCYC Train wins 1st place at the Lions Collie Christmas Pageant

The PCYC train helped light up the South32 Family Concert, part of Collie’s 125th Anniversary celebrations, and took out 1st place in the Lions Collie Christmas Pageant last month.

This glowing train was constructed using an adapted method of traditional Chinese lantern making by artists Lewis Horne and Giuseppe Rugnetta. The structure consisted of a metal frame covered with baking paper and then spray painted!

Young people from the centre helped build the frame and paint the train during safeSPACE™ sessions while some university students from Teach Learn Grow also chipped in to paint the rivets and wheels!

The train was based off one of Collie’s original steam trains that is now located at the Collie Visitor Centre.
