PCYC Centres receive much needed funding

Published: July 29, 2021 12:58pm

We are grateful to have received funding for Collie and Fremantle PCYC under the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Round 6 funding program.

Collie PCYC has been awarded $8,732 to replace ageing gym flooring at the Centre.

Collie currently runs six gymnastics classes a week, with 106 regular participants. Currently the gymnastics floor is used for competition training as well as for other recreational activities and diversionary programs, including PCYC’s core diversionary program, safeSPACE™.

Thanks to this funding, the gymnastics floor will be updated to provide safer, more comfortable conditions for Collie PCYC participants.

Fremantle PCYC has been awarded $14,658 to install turf and four reversible basketball/ netball posts with backboards and hoops to the Centre’s outdoor area.

The outdoor area is the heart of the Centre at Fremantle PCYC and is utilised by all Fremantle PCYC program participants.

This funding will allow Fremantle PCYC to make vast improvements to this space, which will not only benefit hundreds of Breakfast Club, safeSPACE™ and safeSISTAS participants each week, it will also allow the Centre to run a Night Hoops program in partnership with the Stephen Michael Foundation.
