On 19th February 2021, the Premier Hon Mark McGowan MLA announced a $60K investment into Collie PCYC as a pre-election commitment to install air conditioning and refurbish the kitchen at the Centre.

The installation of air conditioning will make the Centre a more comfortable place for people to spend time in and the refurbishment of the kitchen will ensure children and young people can maximise usage of these facilities.

Premier Mark McGowan stated, “Collie PCYC offers local youth in the Collie area a friendly place to go - somewhere they can feel at home, make friends and do things young people should do. Investing in this important local organisation will help to keep the community safe and strong.”

WA Labor Candidate for Collie-Preston Jodie Hanns said, “As a local teacher I know firsthand the important work that Collie PCYC does with children and young people. Collie PCYC is a safe environment where young people can come and chat to staff about any issues that they may be dealing with.”

PCYC President Geoff Stooke noted, “We are extremely grateful for the on-going support from the McGowan Government. Children and young people in Collie will greatly benefit from this investment and these refurbishments.”

Collie PCYC is at the heart of the community, both in its location in the centre of town and as the main go-to place for local young people. A variety of programs and activities are held at the Centre, from Boxing to Gymnastics, Mountain Biking, Air Rifles and the popular safeSPACE™ program.
