Rockingham's Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation graduation ceremony.
PCYC’s young people have made us proud this month – graduating from accredited Learning and Development courses across the State. Eleven students at Bunbury PCYC and 15 at Gosnells PCYC graduated with a Certificate I in Leadership – a 12-week bridging course that assists youth at risk aged 15 to 20 years, to progress to further education, training or employment. At Rockingham PCYC, 11 students achieved a Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation – a six-week course teaching students the practical skills relevant to an automotive workplace, while 10 more students graduated from a work-ready Weld to Life training program. This 18-week program teaches technical skills in a hands-on environment and is specifically for young people who are in the equivalent school years of 11 or 12 and have been involved with the Youth Justice system, are at risk of offending or are disengaged from traditional education. Congratulations to each of these graduates, who now have employability and leadership skills that will stand them well for the future.
