PCYC Celebrates National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

Kununurra PCYC came together with local youth organisations to ensure the local young people of Kununurra were able to participate in National Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day celebrations.

In the days leading up to the celebration, PCYC staff worked with children and young people to create a range of murals and artwork centred around the 2021 theme, ‘Proud in Culture, Strong in Spirit.’

Community spirit was high on the day as Kununurra kids enjoyed lots of activities from painting to cricket and tug of war - as well as eating lots of food!

Before the celebrations ended, local young people were awarded certificates for being proud in culture, strong in spirit.

Kununurra PCYC Centre Manager, Natalie Sargent said, “It was the icing on the cake seeing the look on their faces when they collected their certificates.”
