School holiday programs with a difference!

Published: April 18, 2020 12:00am

Kalgoorlie PCYC partnered with YMCA to deliver School Holiday Programs in times of need.

Contactless deliveries saw over 70 young people from the Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie and Kambalda areas receive one of six varieties of activity packs to help give children and young people something to do during this extraordinary school holiday period in lock-down.

YMCA delivered 20 packs to young people in the Kambalda and Coolgardie, with PCYC covering 50 locations across Kalgoorlie.

The school holiday activity packs included materials to make tie-dye shirts, play slime, spinning pinwheels, rain sticks and create rainbow chalk drawings. Young people also had access to instructional videos online.

Julie Beeson, Kalgoorlie PCYC Centre Manager, knows how essential the School Holiday Program is for local young people and their families.

“It’s important that our young people remain safe and engaged over the school holiday period, and the activity packs were a perfect way to do that from home,” she said.
