Rockingham PCYC Saturday Night Basketball program focuses on engaging up to 40 disengaged young people per session, aged 10 – 17 years within the Rockingham area. The sessions also include music, healthy lifestyle mentoring and education, a meal and safe travel to and from the venue.

The program is funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries will continue to run for a total of 15 weeks, ending late June 2019.

The initiative forms part of the Targeted Participation Program (TPP) which provides funding that enables organisations to promote participation, healthy lifestyles and active engagement of Western Australian communities in sport and active recreation, with a focus on evidenced based low participation groups.

“The objective of the program is to create sustainable, healthy, affordable and quality sport and recreation opportunities and pathways to engage targeted populations. It’s all about increasing the well-being, resilience and self-esteem of young participants” Justin Sambell, Rockingham PCYC Centre Manager
