State Government announce $2.86m for Rockingham PCYC

On Friday 24th January, the Premier Hon. Mark McGowan MLA, announced $2.86m funding to renovate and extend Rockingham PCYC.

The redevelopment will provide new activity spaces, a room to operate safeSPACE, an office for the local Youth Police Officers, a major upgrade and expansion of the existing skate park as well as a bus to transport young people to PCYC.

The number of residents in Rockingham is expected to grow significantly in the next decade with young people aged between 12-24 expected to increase by 10,600 by 2036.

Premier Hon. Mark McGowan MLA said “Rockingham is one of the fastest growing cities in the State and projects like this are vital to ensuring our infrastructure keeps up with population growth and demand.”

“Rockingham has been my home for almost 30 years, so I know how important it is that we have good quality facilities to support our local kids.”

This news follows the recent announcement $2.95m investment in Midland PCYC.

Geoff Stooke, PCYC President stated “we are incredibly grateful to the State Government for their ongoing support, which will help us empower more children and young people to reach their potential.”
