Published: April 26, 2022 9:17am

Since its establishment in 1941, wrestling has been a core recreational activity at Subiaco PCYC. Led with a huge amount of passion by three extremely experienced volunteers, PCYC Life Member Chris Samios, John Geyer and Jonathan Tan, young people learn freestyle wrestling, develop self-defence skills, improve their confidence and increase their fitness levels.

A huge congratulations to our Subiaco PCYC Wrestlers, Kilian and Julian for taking home some amazing awards at the 2022 Wrestling WA Awards night!

Julian was awarded Most Outstanding Senior Male for 2021, with Kilian winning the Most Outstanding Junior Male trophy.

In the future, Julian dreams of making it to the Commonwealth Games one day, and Kilian wants to reach the Olympics, no less! Coming from families with experience in high-level competitions, Julian and Kilian definitely have what it takes to make it big in the sport.

Coach Chris Samios, devoted to the sport with 42 years' experience, said, "We don't get rewarded from being paid - our reward is the student's development."

Subiaco PCYC’s wrestling team are always on the lookout for new members, so if you're interested in becoming part of an award-winning team get in touch with Subiaco PCYC by emailing subiacopcyc@wapcyc.com.au or calling the Centre on 9388 2053.
