Trip of a lifetime!

Twenty regional Police Rangers got a taste of city cop life when they headed to Perth on a four-day tour.

PCYC Albany Police Rangers enjoyed touring the Police facilities at Midland and Maylands and watched demonstrations from specialist units including the Police Tactical Response Group (TRG), Dog Squad (K9) and Mounted Section. Rangers also had the opportunity to meet members of the Forensic and Intelligence Division.

The Rangers visited the Western Australia Police Force Academy, where they participated in drills and got a taste of what it’s like to train as a Police recruit, completing an agility test and obstacle course.

Senior Ranger H. Leadbeatter said it was the most exciting trip she had been on since joining the program.

“There were so many highlights, it’s hard to choose a favourite; from learning about the Tactical Response Group, the equipment they use, getting to see the biggest gun library in the world and having the opportunity to march on the parade ground at the Police Academy,” she said.

As a treat for their hard work throughout that year, the Rangers also participated in a behind the scenes tour of the new West Coast Eagles training facility at Lathlain Park and a day at Adventure World.
