York Blue Light WA™ ride for a reason

Published: November 23, 2023 3:32pm

In a remarkable display of determination and community spirit, the team at York Blue Light WA™ Unit completed a 24-hour bike ride challenge, achieving an incredible fundraising total of $10,550.

It was a fantastic community event, with Police Officers, community members, and Police from Northam and Beverly pedaling to kick the fundraising goals.

Riders spun their legs on stationary bikes in the historic Westpac Building along Avon Terrace, which provided the perfect location for the participants to ride, rest and recover whilst additional fundraising initiatives including a Silent Auction and Cake Stall took place.

York’s Officer in Charge, Andy Galbraith, said, “The community support for the team was overwhelming. It was a pleasure to hear the positive comments about what the team were doing and how well they are thought of in the local community”.

The funds raised will go towards the York Blue Light WA™ Unit and Police Legacy. For Blue Light WA™ York, this will fund a range of engaging activities for young people in the community.

One of the first initiatives made possible through the fundraising was a visit from Perth Wildcats player Greg Hire, and his passionate team from a Stitch in Time (ASIT) to the York District High School as part of the Beyond Blue ‘Be You’ week.

Many thanks to our dedicated York Blue Light WA™ Unit for organising this incredible fundraising event, and to the countless sponsors for their support.

A big thank you to our sponsors
