A busy month for PCYC’s Institute of Training

Published: August 30, 2021 8:52am

PCYC’s Institute of Training (IOT) attended WA’s largest Careers and Employment Event, the SkillsWest Careers and Employment Exhibition.

The PCYC Institute of Training provides young people with the skills and confidence they need to progress to further education, training, or employment or to transition back to a school environment.

PCYC Trainers took turns over the three-day exhibition to meet and greet hundreds of young people, providing an insight into the different courses available through the PCYC Institute of Training.

PCYC CEO, David Van Ooran, also came down to show his support and chat to children about their career options.

Earlier in the month, ten students graduated from Gosnells PCYC, completing their Leadership 1 course. Special guests included the Mayor of Gosnells, Mr Goode, Darlington Range Wildlife Centre and Officers from the Gosnells Police station.

Certificate I in Leadership is a bridging course that assists young people to progress to further education, training, or employment through the development of leadership skills and increased community participation. All of the Gosnells graduates have plans for the next step of their career, ranging from further study, volunteering at PCYC, seeking employment and returning to school.

To top off an exciting month, our Institute of Training is expanding, now running a 12-week Leadership I Course at Fremantle PCYC.
