Awards roll in for Bunbury and Kalgoorlie PCYC

Published: August 04, 2023 3:30pm

Bunbury PCYC's Aussie Hoops program has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the Participation Program of the Year Award, announced at the Basketball WA Gala. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Bunbury Centre Manager Katie Penches and Aussie Hoops coaches, Cadence Edwards, Chloe Seaman and Sam Bird.

The program has been a resounding success, with over 200 participants making it the largest Aussie Hoops program in regional WA. Since its inception in 2020, the program has grown significantly, providing young people with an opportunity to learn basketball, develop their skills, and have fun.

It’s heartening to see such youth-centred initiatives being recognised and appreciated. Kalgoorlie PCYC was also a finalist for Youth Organisation of the Year at the 2023 Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Awards, making it a proud moment for PCYC. Additionally, Courtney Holt, a PCYC Youth Worker, was nominated for Youth Worker of the Year for her work in the community and PCYC's diversionary programs. It is inspiring to see valued members of the PCYC team making a positive impact in their communities.

Congratulations to Bunbury PCYC and Kalgoorlie PCYC on their well-deserved awards and nominations. Credit and thanks also go to all the Coaches and Youth Workers across PCYC for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people.
