Constable Care tackle youth issues
Nine young people from Gosnells PCYC spent two weeks with the Constable Care Theatrical Response Group (TRG) to produce an educational video addressing issues facing young people such as peer pressure, social isolation, bullying, domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse.
Over the two weeks, Matt Stewart, TRG Coordinator and Director, engaged the children in activities to build their self-confidence, enabling them to act as different characters and to embrace a number of roles throughout the project.
Gosnells PCYC Manager Alan Elliot said one of the highlights of the initiative was the constant laughter he heard on filming days.
“It was amazing to see our young people come together, create something they were proud of and learn new skills” he said.
The Constable Care Theatrical Response Group (TRG) is the Foundation's theatre-in-education program designed to empower secondary school students to deal with the social pressures affecting their day-to-day lives.
