Gosnells PCYC Judo Champ

Published: June 24, 2019 12:00am

They may not be the biggest club, but Gosnells PCYC has fought their way to the top of the judo game. The club is celebrating the performance of Judo enthusiast Jordan Boxell who recently took out a bronze medal at the 2019 National Judo Championships in the Under 66Kg Youth Division.

And it doesn’t end there, later this year Jordan will head to France to participate in intense training and further competitions.

Jordan has been a Judo enthusiast since the age of 11 when he decided to give Judo a go at Gosnells PCYC.

“At the time I was doing gymnastics, but I decided to try Judo and loved it from day one,” said Jordan.

Jordan has been training at Gosnells PCYC for seven years now and is now proudly an Assistant Coach at the Centre. Coach Ian Weaver, a PCYC Life Member, said he was incredibly proud of Jordan’s efforts and knew he was destined for success.

“We’re probably one of the smallest Judo clubs around, but when our students put their mind to it, they’re a tough bunch to beat!” Mr Weaver said.
