Northam PCYC STRYKA Fight Team success continues in 2020 with the team collecting two special bout trophies and five State medals in the WA State 2020 Autumn Novice Boxing championships held in Fremantle this month. Centre Manager, Jane Atterby, assisted STRYKA coaches Fi and Guy Mead, with all three expressing great pride in the team. “I’m so proud of every young person who competed, they all put in their absolute best and should be very proud of their achievements,” she said. The STRYKA Fight Team is a not-for-profit Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sporting association that provides local young people from underprivileged backgrounds with the opportunity to compete in their chosen combat sport of either boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian jujitsu (BJJ) or full mixed martial arts. Huge thanks to local sponsors including Bendigo Bank, Mc Donald’s junior sports grants, SVG Construction and the Avon regional community for supporting the team.
