Six young people from Midland PCYC have taken their first step towards achieving their goals by completing the Stepping Stones Certificate I in General Education for Adults.

The students celebrated their success at their graduation ceremony in June surrounded by their family and friends.

Amanda Dow, Midland PCYC Centre Manager, said, “We are so proud of these students and all they have accomplished throughout the program. Their dedication and hard work has paid off.”

The Stepping Stones program provides an alternative pathway for young people in Year 11 or 12 that, for a variety, of reasons are not attending school. The aim is to improve young people’s academic skills, boost their self-confidence and equip them with necessary skills such as computer literacy, resume writing and career planning.

Now these young graduates have this qualification under their belt, they all plan to continue their studies at North Metropolitan TAFE. The students have applied to courses in Beauty Services, Electrical and Heavy Metal Engineering and Youth Work for semester two. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours!
