Young people learn to play instruments for the first time

Young people attending safeSPACE™ at Kalgoorlie PCYC have been given the opportunity to learn how to play instruments for the first time thanks to The Australian Children's Music Foundation (ACMF).

ACMF Programs Coordinator, Brenton, has been introducing the guitar to participants of PCYC’s safeSPACE™, giving children and young people the opportunity to wind down after school and express themselves in a positive way.

Not only is it fun, but playing music is one of the only activities that relaxes people whilst stimulating and utilising the entire brain, making it the perfect activity for young people who have challenging home environments.

Kalgoorlie PCYC Centre Manager, Julie Beeson said, “It is great to see local young people developing a passion for music.”

“The smile on their faces as they strum away on the instruments says it all.”
