Diving into water safety

Published: March 30, 2023 11:46am

Over 20 children aged 9 to 14 from Kalgoorlie PCYC attended swimming and water safety sessions run by Royal Life Saving WA, thanks to sponsorship from BHP.

In fortnightly sessions, the children learnt how to safely conduct themselves around water and respond with lifesaving knowledge during an emergency. These vital lessons are a key part of Royal Life Saving WA’s Water Safety Strategy 2030 which aims to improve accessibility to water safety information and practices in regional areas such as Kalgoorlie.

The new Australian Water Safety Strategy also seeks to raise awareness about non-fatal drowning incidents, encourage communities to create local water safety plans and promote access to swimming and water safety skills for all Australians.

Thanks again to BHP and Royal Life Saving WA for providing these vital sessions.
