The Hit FM Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Awards recognise people working in the youth space who are making a positive contribution to their community.

Xavier Lucas was nominated and announced as a Finalist for his dedication to PCYC as a volunteer boxing coach. Xavier continues to run boxing classes twice a week for local children as well as engaging young people at risk to ensure they are harnessing their energy in positive ways.

Callum McLerie was nominated and made Finalist for his long term involvement with PCYC, starting as a participant and now acting as Kalgoorlie PCYC’s Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach. Callum is also a volunteer fire fighter and volunteers his time for speedway and BMX, while working a full time apprenticeship. Callum plays an important role at PCYC, helping to break down barriers for participation that young people face, with the gymnastics program now offering pathways for disadvantaged children and families.

Shannon Turner was nominated due to her commitment to Kalgoorlie PCYC’s core diversionary program, safeSPACE™. Shannon also travels to Leonora regularly on behalf of PCYC, to provide school holiday activities for local children and young people in remote areas.

Kalgoorlie PCYC was awarded Finalist for the Youth Organisation of the Year Award, being recognised for delivering programs that have a positive impact on the community and the young people they engage with.
