PCYC has a long-standing reputation for developing elite gymnasts and this did not go un-noticed in the 2021 Gymnastics Western Australia Awards. The success of PCYC’s coaches, athletes and hard work was recognised with two finalists and one award winner.

A huge congratulations to Sian Szolkowski from Bunbury PCYC for being awarded the Gymsport Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Rookie Coach of the Year.

Sian first began competing in PCYC Gymnastics Competitions at just eight years old and competed every year until the age of 17. Sian is now an Advanced Coach at Bunbury PCYC and strives to help young gymnasts expand their competition experience.

In 2021, Sian took the Bunbury PCYC Gymnastics team to the Regional Gymnastics Championships, where three of her gymnasts as well as a reserve were selected to represent WA in the State Team in the Northern Territory Championships, with Sian selected as the official coach.

Regional Manager, Francine Bayet, said, “Sian is an incredible coach, her passion for the sport and her drive to empower young gymnasts to be the best they can is what makes her a valuable addition to PCYC.”

PCYC were also thrilled to be nominated for the following awards:

  • Connecting our Community Club Award
  • Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Champion Club of the Year Award
